Costa Toscana IGT

The Marsiliana Estate is located in Manciano, in southern Maremma in Tuscany where the sea is felt in the climate, seen in the light, and breathed in the air. Because the estate’s territory is so extensive, the vineyards have been positioned at optimum plots among the hillocks for a total of 20 hectares. The soils of Marsiliana are composed prevalently of sand and silt over clay, giving life to extraordinary Mediterranean expressions of a Bordeaux blend.

Birillo is an original red, very easy to drink and appealing. It could even be described as a “mini-Super Tuscan.” It is, in fact, a pleasant wine for all types of meals, with characteristics like that of a Super Tuscan—power, depth, color, refinement, and with a typical composition of aromas found in those great wines; yet it is made to be simpler, smoother, and overall more accessible for everyone.

Tasting and pairing notes:
The carefree synthesis of a serious grape, made from the vineyards of Marsiliana Estate in Maremma, Birillo is the epitome of a joyful, fruity wine made from cabernet sauvignon and merlot. The deep, brilliant violet in the glass has a mysterious smoothness that characterizes the nose with aromas of jam and strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, Mediterranean herbs, and black olives. An original and marine wine whose vibrant hues and aromas open up to a full, fruity sip. The tannins are balanced with its agility and with lightly toasted notes that accompany the prevailing density of its fruit, until the final flavorful, refreshing sip. Food pairings: It’s a classic with refined first dishes such as fresh egg pasta and poultry ragù; and a plate of paccheri alla norma is surprisingly good.
